Charles Nye married Tena Mortensen in St. Ignace, Michigan, USA on 5 February 1894. They lived and farmed in Hessel, Michigan and had 11 children. Charles was born Karl August Karlsson on 17 October 1864 in Svalnas, Bo Parish, Orebro County, Sweden. Tena was born Dorthe Mortensen on 1 December 1873 in Glud Mark, Glud Parish, Vejle County, Denmark.
